What is Agua Fresca?
An agua fresca is a thirst-quenching popular drink in Mexico. The term “agua fresca” is a Spanish term that literally translates to “fresh waters” or “cool waters”. Traditionally, this refreshing non-alcoholic beverage is made with fresh fruit, lime juice and a little sugar.
Sometimes, this icy drink might be called a Watermelon fizz or watermelon cooler if you add a sparkling water or soda to the recipe. Whatever the naming convention, we call it - DELICIOUS.
Organic Oolong Tea
Do you know what’s even more refreshing than watermelon on a hot summer day? You guessed it! – Watermelon Oolong Organic Tea blended with fresh watermelon.
Our Watermelon Oolong Organic Tea is one of our popular Signature Blends. Organic oolong and green tea are combined with watermelon essence, berries, tropical fruits with a clean lemongrass finish. Simply sublime over ice or as a hot tea and a perfect complement to our watermelon agua fresca.
We have also made this drink with our Plum Berry Organic Oolong Tea and it was super delicious. Berries and watermelon complement each other well. Fraser Tea is available either in organic loose-leaf tea or in our Next Generation Non-GMO Pyramidal Tea Bags for your convenience.
Watermelon Oolong Agua Fresca Recipe
Serves 2Prep Time: 10 -15 minutes
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 2 sachets (tea bags) or 2 teaspoons of loose leaf Watermelon Oolong Organic Tea
- 1-2 tablespoons sugar or sugar alternative (optional)
- 3 cups seedless watermelon diced
- 1 cup ice + extra for serving
- Juice of 1 fresh lime (2 tablespoons)
- 1 cup sparkling water
Directions:
Steep watermelon oolong organic tea in hot water (195 degrees F or 90 degrees C) for 3 minutes. Allow to cool. Alternatively, you can use Cold Brewed Tea. (If using the hot water method, you can speed up the cooling process by putting your tea in the refrigerator/freezer while you are chopping up the watermelon)
Remove the rind and chop the seedless watermelon into cubes.
Place watermelon, cooled brewed watermelon oolong organic tea, ice and lime juice into a high-powered blender. Blend until smooth.
If you wish, you can strain the juice before serving but we love it just the way it is.
Pour Watermelon Oolong Agua Fresca into glasses, top with sparkling water and add extra ice if desired. Mix and enjoy. Garnish with watermelon cubes and limes.
